Everything plus the Kitchen Sink

We got some minor renovations done this week and we are very happy about it. We got a new Bathroom sink/ faucet, got our bathtub grout/caulking and tile repaired, and also got a new Kitchen sink/faucet. Since we have bought this house we have done little upgrades here and there and it makes all the difference.

Today we had a guy come and do the work for us... we hadn't decided if we needed a new kitchen sink but luckily we ended up having to get one as the old one was rusting and leaking. (I was thrilled about this... Mark not so much) I drove to Rona with bundled up Josh and diaper bag in tow and picked out a new sink... as I was going through the checkout the teller lady yelled out... "Everything PLUS the kitchen sink today" I thought that was pretty cute.

It's not fancy or anything, but it works and that's all that matters to us right now! I love before and after pictures but I forgot to do the before pictures so you will just have to settle for the "during" and "After". I'm so excited for my new kitchen faucet!! Oh the simple joys!

Don't get out much!

This has to be the absolute longest Winter Ever! I am having a hard time remembering what being outside feels like. Since I had Josh at the beginning of the season, I have spent pretty much all my time indoors. I am so excited for summer to get here so Josh and I can spend more time outside! Last week it went above zero for almost half a day so we braved it and went for a walk. Josh wasn't too thrilled at first, but once he stopped crying and actually opened his eyes, he discovered that the world is actually a pretty neat place. He Loved it!

Green with Envy

We have had Copper now for three and a half years. There is no doubt he is an important part of our Family. We got him when he was a small puppy and he has gone everywhere and done every thing with us. He is used to going on daily walks and hikes in the River Valley, he would rarely miss a day of fetching his ball which is his favorite thing in the world.

Since Josh has joined this Family, Copper had to learn very quickly what it feels like to be... well... A Dog! All at once the weather changed from Summer to Winter and his life changed even more drastically. Gone are the daily runs and fetching of the ball. We try to do it as often as we can, but it is still not enough. Copper spends the majority of his day looking out the window at other dogs with better lives than him or sleeping in a sun-spot remembering what life used to be like before his new Tiny Master entered the house. Copper has gained several pounds and looks as though no one knows his sorrow. His new name should be Eeyore. It's quite funny and sad at the same time.

One night about a month ago, I heard a loud noise coming from Josh's room at about 11:30PM. I went to see what it was and I found Copper bolting out of his room vomiting several times and proceeding to lick the kitchen floor constantly. It turns out he had licked a humidifier in Josh's room and had burned his tongue very badly. Josh slept through the whole ordeal.I ended up having to spend the night on the floor with copper to keep him calm as he was traumatized by the whole thing.

Copper has associated this event with Josh and keeps a small distance from him... which is OK with me. Copper's a great dog and he was a real blessing to us before we had Josh... Hopefully when it gets nicer I can help him shed a few depression pounds and show him life is still good!

Any time I put down a blanket for Josh to do tummy-time, Copper swoops in and tries to lay down. Trying to make a point I guess.

Why the odd title?

After some positive "peer pressure", I have decided to start this blog in order to be more connected with Family and Friends. I am not much of a writer so each post may just be a mass of pictures with brief explanations.

Why the weird title you ask? Well, I am in love with the musical "The Sound of Music" and every time I hear the song "The Hills are Alive" I chuckle. Thus, I titled this blog "The Hills are alive ..." in order to show all the things we are lively doing. Kind of nerdy I know.

As little Josh is growing faster and faster you will come to see that this blog may be entirely devoted to showing him off. His first year will go by so quickly and will only get to see Family a few precious times... so hopefully this can be a way you can get to know him a little bit. (Thanks to the Internet!) We think he's a pretty special little boy and love him a whole lot. Here are some recent pictures of "Joshy boy."

Mark just started a new job a few months ago at a smaller

accounting firm. He loves it...

One of the greatest things about it is that he is able to come home for lunch. Josh usually holds onto his tie the whole time which is pretty cute. He thinks Daddy is amazing.
